We know being cooped up can make even the most ardent home-body go stir crazy. We also know that if you’re getting our emails, you care deeply about climate and environmental injustice. Here’s a shortlist of five things you can do that are good for the environment, starting with Earth Hour!
Participate in Earth Hour! This Saturday, March 28th at 8.30pm (your local time) - shut off all your lights and devices to help cut emissions. Maybe use the time to play cards by candlelight with your family. Learn more about Earth Hour here.
Recycle! Even here in NYC where nearly everything is shut down, waste management is still making collections. You can check out some info on how to recycle and resources to seek out on our website here.
Conserve electricity, everyday. Make sure you turn off the lights in rooms you’re not in and unplug device chargers you’re not using. Small steps like that can have a big impact on both energy use and your electric bill.
Have a backyard? Start a garden! Soon you’ll have butterflies hanging out with you while you have your morning coffee.
Have a veggie meal! Now is a great time to get (re)acquainted with pantry staples, like beans. Check out this handy guide from The New York Times for some inspiration.
Bonus: Love nature? You can virtually tour some of America’s National Parks here!
